Course DescriptionGynecologic pathology is a large sub-specialty area covering numerous sites, diseases and cancers. Due to the breadth of this field, many nuanced details regarding classification of disease, intra-operative consultation, newly described tests and staging of gynecologic cancer remain unknown to many surgical pathologists. Most practicing surgical pathologists see ample amounts of gynecologic surgical pathology on a routine basis including biopsy material, specimens for intra-operative consultation and cancer resections which require laboratory work-up and assessment of important staging pathologic variables. Such complexity makes it essential that some of the intricacies of this field be discussed. The aim of this course will be to discuss some of the more difficult specimens encountered within this discipline, as well as new clinical tests that have become available. In addition, portions of the course will address chronically difficult staging issues that are commonly encountered.Target AudiencePracticing academic and community pathologists, and pathologists-in-trainingLearning ObjectivesUpon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:List and describe common problems encountered in diagnosing, grading and staging endometrial adenocarcinomaList and describe common problems encountered in diagnosing and grading cervical carcinomaDescribe histologic and molecular features of uterine mesenchymal tumorsDescribe the approach to diagnosis in abnormal products of conception specimensTopics : Uterine Smooth Muscle TumorsEndometrial Low-Grade Carcinoma and MimicEndometrial High-Grade Carcinoma and MimicsEndocervical NeoplasiaUterine Mesenchymal Tumors Other Than Smooth MuscleEndometrial Carcinoma Staging IssuesCervical Cancer Staging IssuesGestational Trophoblastic DiseasesPanel Discussion - Endometrial Cancer TypingPanel Discussion - Endocervical Adenocarcinoma Typing and StagingPanel Discussion - Staging Issues in Endometrial CarcinomaPanel Discussion - Abnormal Products of Conception and Mesenchymal TumorsOriginal release date: April 29, 2020 Access to this course expires on: November 6, 2022
