Course DescriptionThe Classics in Echocardiography Series provides a comprehensive state-of-the-art review of modern diagnostic echocardiography. Distinguished speakers, who are all experienced cardiac imagers and members of the Mayo Clinic faculty, will highlight the integration of up-to-date echocardiographic techniques into clinical practice. Topics covered include acquired and congenital heart diseases, ischemic and valvular conditions, stress imaging and procedural guidance.Course Learning ObjectivesUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:Review the elements required to perform a comprehensive, accurate and quantitative echocardiogram in the evaluation of cardiovascular structure and function including the modalities of myocardial enhancement imaging, strain analysis and 3D echocardiography- Describe how to accurately interpret the presence and severity of valvular disease using echo Doppler- Recognize the potential pitfalls in the echocardiographic evaluation of acquired and surgical valve conditions- Describe the role of echocardiography in evaluating the patient with complex cardiomyopathies including those with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, amyloidosis and heart failure- Describe the role of echocardiography in evaluating the patient with complex cardiomyopathies including those with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, amyloidosis and heart failure- Illustrate the role of echocardiography in the imaging guidance of patients undergoing structural heart procedures- Define the role of stress echocardiography in the assessment of patients for myocardial ischemia, heart failure and valve diseaseTarget AudienceThis comprehensive online program is intended for adult and congenital cardiologists, cardiology fellows, cardiac sonographers, and students in training. This course is also intended for other medical specialists, internists, surgeons and anesthesiologists working to further their experience in clinical application of echocardiography.ContentMODULE 136:32The Normal 2-D Echocardiogram Including Measurement of Ejection FractionMerri L.
